Sonrise
Camp Receives NARHA Accreditation
2007
- Sonrise Camp, Inc. is proud to announce its recent accreditation
by the North American Riding for the Handicapped
Association (NARHA).
Just as other professions use accreditation and
licensing systems to improve the well-being of their
industries, therapeutic equine professionals have a
distinction of their own thanks to NARHA’s Premier
Accredited Center Program. The Premier Accredited
Center Program offers NARHA centers the chance to
demonstrate their excellence in providing quality,
professional equine assisted activities. This
voluntary process recognizes NARHA centers that have
met established industry standards. The accreditation
process is a peer review system, in which trained
volunteers visit and evaluate centers in accordance
with NARHA standards. Centers that meet the
accreditation requirements based on the
administrative, facility, program and applicable
special interest standards become Premier Accredited
Centers for a period of 5 years. Centers must renew
that accreditation by the end of the fifth year.

Sonrise
Camp Completes Another Successful Year
|
|
|
|
2004 - Thanks
to the support of many individuals and organizations
in our community, Sonrise Camp has had a wonderful
year of expanded services. Seven weeks of day
camp were held during June and July. Children
from age 3 to 14 enjoyed activities such as horseback
riding, swimming, crafts scavenger hunts, and
singing. Of course, everyday, they had a chance
to feed and pet the animals. All of our campers
are very special. Many of them have special
needs such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, cancer,
hearing loss, Down syndrome, autism or other physical
or mental challenges. All children are welcome
and it is a tremendous learning experience as everyone
brings their own abilities to blend with those of
others. We all learn from each other. A
week of music camp was also held in July. Tommy
Shapard and Janice Gardner donated their time and
talents to teach a dozen campers basic guitar, hand
chimes, voice and keyboard.
